Team overview

Signal Processing and Medical Applications is a research team affiliated to ASM division. The team is specialized in one-dimensional signal processing and biomedical engineering.

Previously, the team members have conducted several R&D projects which aim at designing medical devices. One can mention, (i) computer audiometer, (ii) anti pain stimulator, (iii) ultrasonic cleaner, and (iv) voice disorders screener.

Currently, the team is focusing on two main targets:

  • Proposition of innovative solutions to a wide range of problems pertaining to the field of signal processing and medical applications to boost the socio-economic development of our country.
  • Effective involvement in several multi-disciplinary projects of ASM division which is currently conducting three unifying projects that bring together several research teams to tackle a wide spectrum of socioeconomic problematics. The topics covered by these projects are: Biomedical signal processing, Smart X, and Oil and Gas industry.

Socio-economic projects

Signal Processing and Medical Applications team is involved in three unifying projects which are currently conducted in ASM division. The team is proposing engineered solutions to several problematics related to one dimensional signal processing. Currently, the main focus of the team is the processing of audio signals.

Project 1: Within the framework of the unifying project of ASM division entitled: «A multimodal stress monitoring and management system based on cognitive computing », the mission of signal processing and medical applications team is to « Monitor stress using voice patterns»

Project 2: Within the framework of the unifying project of ASM division entitled: « Smart management of Parking », the mission of signal processing and medical applications team is to « Incorporate audio surveillance in Smart Parking»

Project 3: In addition to the projects mentioned above, the team members are involved in the implementation of the rock core characterization platform based on CT-scan images. The socioeconomic partner of this project is SONATRACH company.
