On Saturday 05 October 2024, the Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Kamel Badari, supervised the inspection of the first remote fire detector in the wilaya of Médéa. The device was designed and produced at the Center for Development of Advanced Technologies (CDTA) in Baba Hassan, Algiers. It is based on the detection of fire sources by sending out a beam of light that scans the horizon, emitting invisible pulses of light, locating the smoke caused by the fire and sending alerts to the civil protection and forestry services for rapid intervention, with the identification of intervention routes. After the inspection, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research gave a speech praising the project and its importance in preserving our forest heritage and the efforts of the research team, after which the Centre’s Director, Dr Mohammed TRAÏCHE gave a detailed presentation of the project and its prospects.
Many thanks to the General Forestry Directorate, its managers and agents who supported this project in the field experiments.
